the album is a collection of wonderful, emotional and very personal songs. written and performed by peter wangel, the lyrics are inspired by multi award winning, temporary norwegian writer karl ove knausgard and deal with very personal subjects from his own life. “the previous releases were about the “lonely” feelings, the feelings that only existed in me, the feelings i wanted to set free for a long time. the new album is about my life as it is right now, about all the thoughts, expectations, worries and the happiness that comes with a new life as a family. this is a very personal album, but i also hope to express something very ordinary and something that most people can relate to.- also musically the album is a big step forward for wangel, the melodies are still subtle, but offer more nuances and colors.

they share a similar taste for music, detroit techno. before they worked together, dennis experimented with deep house through digital synths and learned the ins and outs of programming music in logic.

the second new york trax imports record is by endlec from thessaloniki, greece, a rising techno star affiliated with the mord records powerhouse. this thunderous concept ep consists of four recordings produced in april and september of 2016 at utr studios in greece. all tracks were programmed and recorded live in one take with almost no changes to their arrangement. the outcome is unbeatable 90s sounding hard and raw techno, which you rarely hear in the present era of artificially polished sound.

originally released in 1982, including tracks written for crosstalk (a science fiction thriller film made in australia) and other electronic themes, it was written, performed and recorded by chris neal in his home studio, using roland system 700 and roland mc8. in 1982 there were only a few system 700s ever produced and roland was more interested in promoting their more commercial system 100m (that s why it was credited on the 1982 original cover to give them a plug). the system 700 was developed by taro kakahashi and his team in japan as a direct challenger to the moog modular system. the orbeatize remastered reissue also includes a special bonus track remixed and produced in 2017 by jolly mare.

ugly papas were one of the leading acts in the belgian rock scene in the early part of the 90s. 23 years after their final release, they are back with their third full-length album. feisty indie rock, jazzy loops, zappa-esque episodes and fela kuti rhythms. with luc dufourmont (two russian cowboys, id!ots, bevergem) on vocals.

ortella, -the king of clubbing in lyon- is back with a new record label, merging all the projects they starts with his partner kaïs in one unique home, mad recordings. the first release on the platform is by the french man himself, served as an engaged manifesto, music is my shelter is a statement for all the house producers around the world, talking about the years of struggle, the faith in the music as an art and the joy to see one day dreams comes true. no surprise about the style, it s a pure garage house ep released in the old style way, with 3 versions of the same hit! original de luxe is a classic extended cut, club friendly, rich of flavor with flying and crying rhodes keyboards by the talented françois a. an anthem that transports you to a time where house music was a religion and clubs were churches. intro de luxe version is a shortened version, perfect to starts a night with the right mood without announcing too much, just enough to warm-up the dance floor with some emotion. dub de luxe is for more modern purists, putting aside for a short period the piano rolls and focusing on what ortella do the best, percussive drums with no compromise, made for releasing the energy level straight from dancers to the floor.

during the mid-80s and early 90s movin’ records defined the new jersey sound. a skate-shop-turned-record-store run by the so-called “fairy godmother of house” abigail adams, movin’s first output was ‘i’ve got the music’ by boyd jarvis in 1987, followed by music from game changers blaze, kerri chandler, tony humphries and smack, straight up “jersey jams” that producers are still attempting to replicate to this day. still the movin’ records catalogue throws up gems that sound super fresh along with plenty of lightbulb moments of musical discovery.
for the most part movin’ records focused on soulful vocal tracks but they peppered a few deeper tracks into the catalogue too. this is one of those releases and one of the rarer titles to find from the label. produced by steve kelly and steve ‘lucky’ benson as 3 a.m., this was the only single under that group name, although they were involved in other productions from new jersey. deep chords, a heavy kick and a low-end bass form the backing for the repeated vocal line “i love this place”. the ‘place of worship’ mix brings an uplifting piano line to the forefront, whilst an organ line jams out through the track with a jazzy walking bassline holding the groove together.

tenderness - a short-lived disco project helmed by james purdie and skip mahoney only released one 45 and one 12” single during their brief existence. known for their work with chuck brown & the soul searchers & frank hooker & positive people and many more, this duo were undoubtedly a highly talented producer, songwriter and keyboardist combination. originally released on rca in 1978 keep on trying was an underground club hit. the record still packs an immense punch today, it’s a mixture of tough streetwise drums and percussion and swooping dramatic strings and brass will surely hit the spot for disco aficionados. the kind of record you can imagine causing all out pandemonium at the garage while the scents of amyl and sweat fill your nostrils. the kind of record that would make everyone on the raised stages and podiums at the powerhouse whoop and holler in collective joy as frankie stylishly segues it into a punishing percussion break-down. yep. it’s that kind of disco record, so rare and so coveted that even the infamous dj harvey put it over his knee and gave it a good editing way back when. there’s been a shedload of poor imitations knocking around, dodgy euro bootlegs etc, but this 2017 repress is from the master tapes (yes, we can prove it) and is fully, 100% legit in every way. keep on trying - now available again, released in conjunction with rca. back on the streets. same as it ever was! essential disco heat here, buy on sight!

in 1980, during her run on broadway in the musical, ain’t misbehavin’ and before being cast in dreamgirls, singer/actress and detroit native roz ryan teamed up with the legendary team of dennis coffey and mike theodore on a six song album that wound up being unreleased. recently, the folks at super disco edits released this 45 featuring roz’ taking on preston glass’ “keep shining” b/w “put love back” (composed by eric mcclinton). both tracks were from the theo-coff sessions and make their debut for lovers of dancin’ (“keep shining”) and romancin’ (“put love back”). enjoy!

first time band anthology - includes 9 unreleased tracks! this fall, the independent literary press all night menu will publish sam sweets hadley lee lightcap, a nonfiction novel that traces the backstories of the three members in acetone, a band that played in los angeles for nine years. though few heard them, their recordings are time capsules of who they were, how they lived, and where they came from. light in the attic has partnered with all night menu to present acetone 1992-2001, the first anthology of the trios music. the book and the album will be released at the same time.

back available as a limited vinyl edition (500 only) for the first time since 1985. featuring key players like bernie worrell, bill laswell, mory kanté and herbie hancock ! manu dibango needs little introduction, born in cameroon in 1933, manu developed a musical style fusing jazz, funk, and traditional cameroonian music. he’s definitely among the best known african artists outside of africa. collaborations were numerous and include top acts like fela kuti, herbie hancock, bill laswell, sly & robbie, don cherry and bernie worrell. in addition to selling hundreds of thousands of copies of the albums he recorded, he played such huge venues as yankee stadium and madison square garden.

chico buarque construcao revisited by l_cio is a beautiful debut project part of a doc series of releases combining classic brazilian names with doc artists and producers. l_cio (laercio schwantes) the man with the transverse flute known for some of the freshest and unique tracks coming out from brazil is behind this gemstone. increasingly building a legacy of fans following his live performances and recent releases on doc records (vazio, traffic, people talk, schwantes), this man is a non-stoppable 30 hours machine gun. on this long awaited 2-track limited edition vinyl release, l_cio and gui boratto kept the roots of this classic track construcao. however they added all the proper elements of a techno dance floor knockout. by inserting malicious baselines, flutes and strings they generated aggressive melodies while keeping all characteristics of this epic song. voted as the greatest brazilian song by rolling stones magazine, construcao was originaly recorded by chico buarque in 1971 with production by roberto menescal. released during military dictatorship, chico buarque criticizes the way of life of the brazilian workers, comparing them to machines. the song is known for its interchangeable last words, used as if they were pieces of a board game, as said by buarque. generatiions apart, construcao (l_cio & k_ri version) and construcao (l_cio & borattos deconstructed mix) are the first ever authorized remixes in over 45 years. l_cio the latest dance floor brazilian soldier, a menacing builder of beats completes an epic turnnig point by editing and lapidating a classic poetry. with a b side dub version beutifully crafted by label boss gui boratto, this limited edition pearl is finally here for our joy!

in 1973, emi records nigeria released the 45 rpm disc fuel for love b/w soundway, credited to a mysterious band called wrinkar experience. the record was a finely-crafted gem of pop-rock and funky soul as had never before been heard coming out of the countryÆs nascent rock scene, and it ended up being the biggest selling nigerian single up until that point. the success of wrinkar experience effectively demonstrated that was a market for homegrown pop and rock, and sent record labels scrambling to sign similar bands, kicking off the nigerian rock revolution that is still being celebrated and discovered by new generations today. but while wrinkar experience launched the movement, the group itself would be short-lived: after another hit single in 1973, the bands frontman danie ian split for a solo career. the remaining principal players in the group cameroonian musicians ginger forcha and edjoo jacques racine tried to keep the wrinkar name going before giving it up and rebranding themselves as rock town express. rock town expresss debut lp funky makossa was recorded in 1974 for arc records, the cutting-edge studio and label established in lagos by english drum legend ginger baker. the album showcased in long format the qualities that had only been hinted at on the wrinkar experience singles: bright, confident pop melodies, articulate lyrics, and darkly potent funk-rock. comb & razor sound is proud to present a new, fully-authorized reissue of funky makossa, featuring the seven tracks from the original release, plus i am a natural man and i dont want to know, from wrinkar experiences seldom-heard third and final single.

“soldier” is iggy pop’s fourth solo studio album, released in 1980. for the album iggy collaborated with ex-sex pistols bassist glen matlock. david bowie and simple minds provide backing vocals on “play it safe”. videos were made for the songs “loco mosquito”, “knocking em down (in the city)” and “dog food”.

at the third new interplanetary melodies astral journey stopover, it was mandatory to catch an italian project deeply inspired by the sun ra visionary realm, expressing contemporary trials of hybridising jazz with artful electronica. so ra toth and the brigantes orchestra landed on vinyl grooves for the label, after having previously appeared on the likes of mathematics and berceuse heroique. behind the sound, we find the elusive and unpredictable genius of the well-respected producer marcello napoletano.
nim received the distorted sound signal from napoletano taken over by the egyptian deity born from the lips of ra. who knows if those noises were coming from a parallel dimension, outer space, or some otherworldly sphere...? submerged in dark bottom waters, the stormy waves of the acid sea are made of convulsive afro-flavoured percussion with sharp synths looming out like the ivories of some freakish abyssal creatures.

after quietly dropping 2 quality 12”s on the limehouse based hothouse akute back in 2015 and 2016, dempa is back with a four track ep that remains faithful to his particular brand of deeply twisted beat-smithery. trusted into the hands of little beat different, there was no way these ruff and ready dance floor ready demos were going to slip away.
these four tracks delve deep into techno territory. built for the dancefloor and dancers who possess a somewhat acquired taste. both sides of the record are perfectly balanced. the first is quicker in tempo, with the second one focusing on the more psychedelic side of things. dempa cooks with the finest ingredients and naturally the results are full of the right flavours.

for our fourth we are pleased to welcome russia s denis kolomensky to the clandestino family. denis is part of a collective of moscovian djs, producers and promoters throwing interesting parties in the cities simachev shop & bar and dewar s powerhouse venues. when denis sent us his demos, we knew they were a perfect fit for the clandestino ethos. recovery opens with a lively conga section, snappy snares and a classic detroit-style drum sequence takes hold while emotive pads elevate. man of the moment felix dickinson ramps up his remix and turns in a modern jack track by intensifying the bass, introducing firing drums and darker pads. santa monica takes a slower pace gentle sunset chords complement marimba hits and atmospheric key stabs. balearic gabba sound system s stunning rework is an extended blissed out reinterpretation adding a dreamy female vocal over heart wrenching synths

the intergalactic research institute for sound presents de, a compilation of various artists representing georgian electronic and ambient music. / de is a compilation of music from artists of different backgrounds getting together in order to showcase the dynamic influences within the georgian scene. tbilisi is getting worldwide recognition at the moment for its booming club scene, but what this project aims to illustrate is what is happening outside of the club context. natalie beridze who has been performing worldwide since 2004 is known as the first female electronic music artist in georgia, rezo glonti has built his studio inside the hull of his boat, and zesknel is a resident of the renowned bassiani club, while myi and severiane were discovered thanks to myspace, soundcloud, and word-of-mouth. all these talents manage in their own ways to present / de, with murky and melancholic cuts. melancholia is at the core of beauty in georgia. that is not the case in germany and many other cultures, where melancholia is often charged and bound to a negative feeling, which some might perceive as weakness. consequently, one could be tempted to say that even if it‘s electronic music, de has a traditional georgian quality. but that would be putting art in boxes or cases because what is georgian art nowadays, when so many artists from this origin are scattered around? as giorgi maisuradze states in his mission statement for de, the world is their home.

having impressed on the home grown ep, released in march of this year, london modular alliance return to hypercolour with the 5 track wolves ep. once again, a heavy arsenal of modular synths and analogue hardware were deployed in the production of these tracks, each once packing a punch and aesthetic that will appeal to many. ôbrockie detö fires out the blocks with on point electro beats and melancholic pads, whilst militant continues the theme, with dusted drums and thick washes of bass for a real futuristic funk moment. elsewhere on the ep, the disassembled arrangement of advance & proceed gives off a cold and discordant atmosphere, but remains firmly in groove and sonically tight, theres a distinct jazz flare in the mix also! tremors hits hard and heavy, giving the detroit electro cats a run for their money, whilst the ep title track, wolves is a busy and inspired slab of british idm at its very best.

in the whole history of hip-hop music, few groups can claim to have been as influential and important as joseph saddler’s group grandmaster flash & the furious five. many of the genre’s signature elements and trademarks can be traced back to the supergroup founded by the grandmaster, their discography was among the first to feature recordings of scratching and turntablism, their’s was the first to feature songs with political and social commentary, they were the first to refer to rappers as mcs, some might even say they were the group that first coined the term hip-hop.

black ivory was the pride of harlem and new yorks answer to the philly-fine delfonics but with infinitely more teen sex appeal. this silky-smooth 70s harmony trio featured the fabulous falsetto lead of leroy burgess (nephew of philly soul legend, thom bell) and charted four top-40 r&b singles and two top-30 lps under the guiding hand of their manager and today records driving force, patrick adams. songs like, you and i, time is love and dont turn around (which they performed live on soul train) are acknowledged sweet soul classics. and as the decade progressed and tastes changed, they successfully conquered the disco dancefloors with fave-raves like, mainline and walking downtown (saturday night) for buddah records which were liberally sampled by the hip-hop generation a true testament to the staying power of their incessantly soulful sound.

man kann sich tim mislocks debütalbum -now is the last best time- auf zwei weisen nähern. rein musikalisch betrachtet handelt es sich um ein von der gitarre dominiertes ambient-werk. mit seinen organisch fließenden klanglandschaften ist es hörbar von größen wie brian eno, stars of the lid oder eluvium beeinflusst, was hier durchaus als kompliment verstanden werden darf. abgerundet werden die sechs tracks durch minimal-einflüsse eines max richters oder jonny greenwoods. jenseits der musik ist es mislock aber auch ein konzeptionelles anliegen, mit seinen kompositionen auf die krankheit alzheimer aufmerksam zu machen. -i wanted to raise awareness of the disease-, so der musiker. mit alzheimer kam er durch die erkrankung seines stiefvaters in kontakt. alzheimer ist eine schwere erkrankung des gehirns und die häufigste form der demenzerkrankung. in deutschland werden jährlich rund 120.000 diagnosen gestellt. tendenz: steigend! für familienmitglieder ist alzheimer eine extreme belastung, und so war es auch bei mislocks mutter, die sich aufopferungsvoll um ihren mann kümmerte. und auch daran dockt -now is the last best time- an: -i also wanted to develop a historical document to thank my mother and tell her that her generosity and kindness have not gone unnoticed.-

penelope is the 2nd installment from the ag & john robinson ep series produced by ray west. this time around they call on the prolifc west coast wordsmith blu on the title track “penelope” where all the emcees are painting verbal pictures of their own personal dream girl, this track also features frequent collaborator dave dar. the soundscapes provided by ray west are ill collages of jazz loops, live horns, percussion sounds, vintage drum machines and more. each of these recording sessions were labeled “tea with the butcha” by the collective and it truly does describe the essence of the sounds and conversations on these recordings.

dark entries is proud to present the deluxe 2xlp reissue of ‘come visit the big bigot’ by severed heads, oone of the longest surviving bands to emerge from the australian post-punk independent music scene. they began in sydney in 1979, incorporating elements of ‘industrial’ noise-generation, tape cutting & looping and electronic sound synthesis. as the project developed song-structures and vocals were employed in a more-or-less recognizable mutant electro pop style. after many line-up changes featuring garry bradbury and psychedelic guitarist simon knuckey, severed heads was the vehicle for composer tom ellard. ‘come visit the big bigot’ was severed heads’ first record to be released commercially simultaneously in australia, north america and europe in 1986. it was a prime period for this industrial dance music and bigot was a respected album that did well from the tour they did with skinny puppy that same year. quite a few people still define the band by this period. ‘come visit the big bigot’ was made on a fostex 16 track recorder in tom’s bedroom, employing the newly acquired akai s612 sampler and roland sh-101 to create most of the drum sounds. the album signaled a new direction, flirting with the dance floor and the pop song. presenting the heads at their most cohesive, while retaining their distinctive musical stamp. tom’s vocals are harmonized, slowed down, sped up, run through fuzz boxes, backwards, drum machine rolls, sampled guitars, horn sections, and voices but with a subversive rather than malevolent intention. tape loops are more subtle and define their own space and texture. like the original australian version of the album, we’ve included a bonus disc featuring three extended remixes by sydney dj robert racic (who produced the edited 7” version of “petrol” we reissued in 2015), plus three b-sides from the ‘twenty deadly diseases’12” and two additional tracks from the same recording sessions.

300 copies: hand&#8208,,,stamped metallic silver ink on black labels / black sleeves / screen printed white jackets. after a not&#8208,,so&#8208,,unusual quiet period, we re back with our first proper full&#8208,,length lp. plasmas by prefix moniker is an experimental electronic release that sets the stage for future great circles releases oriented more toward home listening than the dancefloor. prefix moniker is comprised of great circles mainstay jason carr (_moonraker) and johnny deblase (bassist in zevious, sabbath assembly & desertion trio). the duo has a musical relationship that dates back almost 20 years. the remote composition of plasmas began in 2013 with carr residing in berkeley, ca at the time, and deblase in queens, ny. each piece consists of arrangements of csound instruments (deblase) with layered synthesizer (carr). the curious product of this collaboration suggested to carr and deblase the fourth state of matter, plasma. all of the track titles were then contributed by jason s physicist brother, dr. jerry carr. page1image18192 pre&#8208,,release response to plasmas from musicians and label friends has been overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic, page1image19360 including karen gwyer s inclusion of two tracks (inductively coupled and helicons) on her recent fact mix (fact mix 610).

...and in the end, not a great deal is known about the spanish duo futuro. the saga begins with the discovery of a cache of test pressings deep within the shelves of a very dusty record shop near the plaza del toros de valencia. as is the case with these things there was no promo sheet or any other information outside of three clues etched into the run-out groove: futuro, jollyman, mcmlxxxvii. through deduction and reasoning it was soon realised that jollyman was a short lived italian record label that closed it s doors in 1987. there were rumours for a while that jollyman was a mafia wedding gift to a music enthused female family member, but as the journey continued it became slightly more likely that this was a tax write-off for it s owners, as the label itself was never very successful, and was more likely an afterthought rather than a full on passion project. that is not to say that there were not gems hidden within it s small catalogue, most notably from noted library musician, composer and arranger alessandro signoretti, without whose help this release would not be presently in front of you. alessandro s assistance led us to the infamous hafenklang studio in hamburg, germany. the very same studio used by boytronic to record their classic lp the continental (some of the same dx presets can easily be heard on both albums) and despite the insane amounts of musicians that have passed through those doors the owner clearly remembered the duo and finally the mysterious futuro had names: javier c rayón and raúl láynez.

too late for the italo boom, and too early for the sonido de valencia craze, the recordings of futuro have sat on master tapes since 1987 finally awaiting their much deserved audience. bordello a parigi are more than proud to present this lost late slow-mo synthesizer italo masterpiece onto the world.

running a label with the ambition to push new and unique voices isn t always an easy task. while finding new artists is about as hard as finding a black t-shirt in berlin, most budding artists seem pressured to conform or mimic the already established, only to be heard. performing under the artist name bleie, oakland resident sarah bly is not one of them. originally hailing from seattle, she indeed works with the mortar of techno form, but uses different bricks altogether. it s a hard sound to articulate, at first, it s almost alienating to ears worn by years in dark clubs. its mercurial, yet still surprisingly club compatible nature makes it an aural tiger balm – it burns and soothes at once. this compositional depth is perhaps a result of bleie s background as a trained pianist and violinist, by which she transmutes the commonly associated tropes of the genre. bleie lets the elements rule over the form, giving the tracks a morphing and unpredictable feel. obviously we were instantly intrigued when stumbling across her music, and now extremely proud to present her vinyl debut certainty is only a feeling . four tracks of unique techno so brimfully suggestive that it s nearly peerless. we can t imagine this leaving anyone unaffected.

by the time mobb deep hit with their third album – hell on earth – they were solidified street legends. coming off the critically acclaimed the infamous, havoc and prodigy hit the lab and came back with a soundtrack that is fitting to its title. havoc’s production is atmospheric, laced with his trademark drums loops and sharp pianos stabs. add prodigy’s trademark flow and it’s evident that the pairing is such an amazing match. while hell on earth is essentially a continuation of the infamous you can still hear the growth in both performers and hell on earth stands as some of their best work. the album features guest appearances by nas, raekwon, method man, and frequent collaborator big noyd.

rat life is back with more unheard material from the hidden bedroom studios of east germany. one day in metropia - is a project that was active around the year 2008 - operating out of the concrete suburbs of dresden. its main focus were live appearances in the citie s underground electronic music circle. just a few signals of its enormous creative output were published on various sound carriers to this day. so it was time to release some more of this large bulk of data that has been lurking on storage devices for years. rat life s operator credit 00 is proud to be allowed to contribute a remix version to this sonic document. have a nice day in metropia!

june records presents rr hearse - call of oedipus. completed between 1981 and 2013, call of oedipus is a collection of solo works and collaborations of rr hearse with s/m, a.rib and mr. cricket. the tracks were recorded live at concerts on greek university campuses, squats, in studio as well as in rr hearse s bedroom. this mini lp is a never released before document of the greek underground music scene, transferred from cassettes and reel-to-reels s from rr hearse s personal archive. very limited!

parallels is the fourth full album released under jason chung’s distinctive moniker, nosaj thing. masterfully dimensional, parallels represents the acclaimed los angeles-based electronic producer/composer/performer’s most diverse, vital work yet. as such, chung sees parallels represents a kind of redemptive rebirth. the album’s compellingly elusive, uncategorizable sonics developed out of what he terms a personal & musical “identity crisis.” according to chung, working with a group of collaborators on parallels that combined both longtime friends and new creative partners added “new energy which pushed me not to limit myself. everything felt fresh and alive.” chung is known specifically for his innovative, unexpected musical pairings: kid cudi hit up on nosaj thing via his myspace page in 2006, resulting in chung producing cudi’s autobiographical classic “the man on the moon.” kendrick lamar flowed over nosaj’s ethereal boom bap to create the youtube gem “cloud 10”, chance the rapper, meanwhile, freaked a nosaj beat for his 2013 breakout masterpiece “paranoia” and appeared on nosaj thing’s previous lp, 2015’s fated. chung and blonde redhead vocalist kazu makino are also longtime creative partners on each other’s work, her voice appears on parallels as an otherworldly spirit animating the icily ‘80s-synthetic “how we do.”

2 years ago, we celebrated our 10 years with 5 anniversary eps entitled 10 by ten, where we asked 10 of our favorite artists to write an exclusive track for the occasion. two of the stand out tracks were martin iveson - aka atjazz - leave me here as well as art of tones, koniokola, which we thought deserved a second life. freerange and delusions of grandeur boss, jimpster, blesses us with his deep yet driving rendition of leave me here, while fred everything chooses to update koniokola with a more dance floor approach and a strip down dub. we also included the original of leave me here which was never available on vinyl.

before there was a man in black, there were the sun records years, when cash began defining his peculiar and witty version of country music. born in arkansas in 1932, cash began recording as a top artist for sun records, for which he released his first full-length lp. this double lp set documents all the hits from 1955 to 1958, before cash signed to columbia records. these 35 “first steps” helped build the legend and are considered the milestones of an incredible career that ended with those passionate and soulful albums on the “american recordings” series released between 1994 and 2003, the year jr cash died on sept 12.
